I have 10 years of experience in public education in rural S. Illinois. I have taught all levels, K-12. As a special educator, I meet students where they are, set goals and objectives and design personalized curriculum to take students to the next level. Students master skills before moving on. I have the autonomy to create lessons based on the students learning timeline, not the curriculum timeline. Developing and maintaining relationships with my students and families is my highest priority. Priming curiosity and critical thinking skills are a part of the daily curriculum. Making sure every student realizes their full potential is a career goal that I meet every year.Being a guide on the side, not the sage on the stage, is how I design my lessons. Steering struggling students to develop ambition and drive, only to realize their true worth and potential, is what compels me to continue working with youth.
