Have you ever spent five years pursuing a master's degree at a highly-reputable college in a field that gave you anxiety attacks on a near-daily basis? Yeah, me too.I'm a teacher by trade: I have a my master's degree in education, with my area of expertise being Social Studies. But once I graduated and was thrown into the real world, I quickly realized that a career in teaching was not the path I was meant to take. In March 2020, I was laid off from both of my teaching jobs. Although the world seemed to be falling apart around me, deep down - and I mean deep down - I was relieved. Because this new reality gave me an opportunity to fully explore (and potentially monetize) my true passions: writing and creating art. I was lucky to obtain two jobs that gave me the chance to hone my skills as both a writer and an artist. The videos I've written for JoBlo Media have been collectively viewed by over a million people, and the socks I've designed for Nine-Toe-Five have been worn by hundreds all over the country. Although this may seem like a smörgåsbord of random jobs, each one has been essential to my professional development. I've picked up time management and communication skills as a teacher; research and writing skills as a student of History and a script writer for JoBlo; and developed a much more creative mindset working as a sock designer (something I never thought I'd do in a million years). There's so much more that I can add, but for the sake of brevity I'll refrain. If you want to learn more, please don't hesitate to reach out.
