• Monitor field utilization of safety, health, injury and accident/injury prevention programs, initiatives and activities• Perform qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and utilize safety assessments, accident/injury trend analyses, safety performance data and input from other groups to identify potential safety deficiencies and corrective actions• Partnered with division, regional and departmental staff in accident/injury and near miss investigations, risk reduction initiatives and hazard elimination analyses. Participate in the investigation of major rail incidents• Lead regional efforts to identify opportunities to improve passenger safety. Develop and implement programs to reduce/eliminate passenger accidents and injuries. Perform station safety assessments in accordance with the requirements of 49 CFR part 270.• Travel to various AMTRAK facilities in the East Region to conduct field inspections to identify and mitigate hazards• Create Safety Committees at both the Division Management level and Local sites to aide in escalating safety issues and concerns up through hierarchy as needed.• Act as the Safety subject matter expert at committee meetings and as a representative for the System Safety Department to lead the efforts locally of achieving a positive safety culture throughout the entire Region.

• Air Train Safety Oversight Board (ATSOB) liaison to Air Train operations at both JFK and Newark Airports. • Oversight and Implementation of System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) following 49 CFR Part 659 guidance • Conduct audits in order to ensure proper operations and maintenance practices are being adhered to• Recommend, Validate and Verify the creation and completion of Corrective Action Plans based on audit findings as well as post incident findings.
