While creating curriculum and teaching advanced courses in film/ media theory, psychology, human development, sexuality, gender, health, and English at the high school (Whitestone Academy, Kent Prep, and Democracy Prep Public Schools) and college (Pima Community College) levels, I concurrently worked on a freelance basis as a ghost writer, publicist, journalist, editor, fiction writer, and filmmaker. I have written and directed "Afghan Hound," a feature film for MaryeaMedia that earned distribution on Netflix and Amazon, and secured screenings at the Left Forum, the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, and soon at the War Resisters League. I have also written a novel for Cairn Press titled "The Unmentionable Mann," which was well reviewed by Huffington Post, Bloom, and Examiner, as well as luminaries in letters and cinema. In July 2016, I co-founded The New Engagement, a literary journal that has published Pulitzer Prize, PEN Saul Bellow, and National Book Award winners, including Edmund White and Richard Howard, and has been featured in EBSCOhost, Poets & Writers, and twice in Huffington Post. My three one-act plays were performed by the Neighborhood Playhouse, Love Creek Productions, and Monarch Theater Company, all in Manhattan, from 2005-2014. Additionally, HiConcept Magazine nominated my short stories, "Mandarin Slang" and "The Commands of Class and Carnage" for Pushcart Prizes in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Most recently, I have completed work on the graphic novel adaption of Edmund White’s 1982-classic "A Boy’s Own Story" for Top Shelf Productions, which won the National Book Award in 2016 for "March." In April 2019, I had two essays and one short story, "Please," published in PANK, Roxanne Gay’s literary journal, and "Crashing Cathedrals," an anthology of essays about the work of Edmund White. I hold an MA in clinical psychology from Columbia University.
