A general theme of industrial and building services engineering with strong energy and Customer foci runs through my professional life. I have occupied a number of senior positions and undertaken a variety of projects and tasks relating to the provision of, and consultancy in, services (be they building, industrial, or energy), which in turn moved me into engineering and operations management. Most particularly I built up certain skills in the operation of gas turbine co-generation plant. I broadened into facilities management in 1999 as MD of Focus, a new facilities management company based in Macau. In 3 ½ years we grew from a single contract company with a staff of about 40 to a total of 22 contracts and a staff of 150. Between 2004 and 2006 I completed the very difficult start-up of the FM operations for the new 70,000m2 Asia World Expo Exhibition Centre at Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong.In August 2006 I returned to New Zealand. I have particular interests in biomass energy, building management systems, and industrial services and I am now one of the countries better known authorities in the area of wood fuels and cogeneration.I spent some time with a very large multinational consultancy in NZ and 5 years ago started my own mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy, Bryn Martin LtdSpecialties: Building management systems, wood energy, co-generation, HVAC design, industrial energy plant, team leadership, and producing solutions to problems which require a wide range of knowledge and analytical thinking across a number of areas.
