Daily interaction with accounting, sales, H.R., technical, and executive departments.AccomplishmentsReduced labor workforce from 69 to 45 over 1 year period by making adjustments in outsourced order forecasting, cross-training personnel, and work-flow improvements.Developed new manufacturing cell that increased parts per man hour from 3.5 to 20 with no additional capital investment.Revised our outsourcing procedures which led to increased visibility of container tracking and a reduction in lead time from 12 weeks to 9 by modifying the carrier routes.Identified training and safety weaknesses, then provided access to training, put together a plant program along with the H.R. department to certify workers and update records annually.Successfully developed new product lines in fire rated millwork, and flex millwork.2008 - 2009 Operations Manager, Greenwood DE (Division of RAS Corporate) Assigned acquisition of regional competitor CDM (Custom Decorative Millwork). Plant ManagerSar Plastics Jul 2006 - PresentCompany reorganization to increase efficiency as housing market declined. I was assigned as plant manager of a non-union injection molding facility just 3 months after my hire as IE at RAS Industries. Duties included determining actual output capability of facility; increase visibility of standard costs, and use my industrial engineering background to bring process efficiency.AccomplishmentsEvaluation of mold temperature stability led me to determine that mold cooling channels were deteriorated and/or blocked in some cases. Cleared passages on all molds which cut scrap rates from 20% to 5%Measured lost raw materials due to wear of molds and found cost savings of $15,000 per year by redesigning injection peanuts.Collaborated on project, partially funded by a State grant, to redesign several metal molds. My modular design allowed us to increase our mold output from 20 parts per shift to 60 parts per shift while decreasing energy consumption by 50%, and increasing operator safety. Redesigned mold rig reducing mold changeover times from 4 hrs to ½ hour.Established standard cost metrics that was implemented at all facilities.2006 Industrial Engineer, Focal Point Products (Division of RAS Corporate) Hired to standardize the operations procedures and increase efficiencies in all departments. Assigned to establish manufacturing metrics, and re-design the plant with lean manufacturing principles.AccomplishmentsAnalyzed plant and re-designed shipping warehouse, fabrication and production departments using Kan-Ban and lean manufacturing philosophies.Developed engineering process to build and bring to market new "Curved" rail systems.Established standard operating procedures in production departments for future ISO compliance, and for standardizing department training.Established department reporting procedures; Developed reports for manufacturing metrics in Excel, and implemented performance awareness at both the floor and executive levels.
