About Brian Bethune

Dr. Bethune is a professional financial economist, part-time professor, and author with a broad range of experience in macroeconomic forecasting, applied economics, finance and business cycle analysis. Brian has been the recipient of numerous forecast accuracy awards, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the Dow Jones Marketwatch Survey, and Caterpillar Business Intelligence.Dr. Bethune conducts research on international macroeconomic business cycles, and financial markets.Brian also has a wide range of consulting, banking and commercial experience. This includes risk management processes in banking and corporate situations, and scenario planning. An expert U.S. financial economist, Dr. Bethune has accomplished “hands-on” experience involving comprehensive analysis and forecasting of the U.S. economy- industry specific and economy-wide cyclical pressures, as well as monetary and fiscal policies. Dr. Bethune is frequently called on as an expert on current economic topics for the financial and public media. Brian has an entrepreneurial and “intrapreneurial” approach and has the ability to find common ground and forge key strategic partnerships. Brian received the Hope International Leadership Award in 2013 for leading and co-chairing a major conference on the potential for microfinance to have a major catalytic impact on poverty reduction, which took place in Boston. Brian serves on the Supervisory Risk Committee of the Hanscom Federal Credit Union, and is a member of the Harvard Group of Industrial Economists.
