Pro bono counsel for a former church congregation seeking to preserve its 100-plus year old church. Helped create a strategy to achieve this objective through a combination of litigation, public official outreach and advocacy, and local community organization collaboration. Filed a historic designation application for the church and litigated it before the City of Pittsburgh’s Historic Review Commission, Planning Commission, City Council, and Pennsylvania trial and appellate courts. Met with City Council members to discuss the basis for preservation and seek their support. Worked with local community organizations to galvanize public support for the preservation campaign, including recruiting and preparing their members to testify at Commission hearings and City Council sessions, attend public rallies, and directly advocate to local elected officials.

• Jointly created process/protocol for ending the company’s litigation hold for long-running nationwide and state class actions• Performed research and drafted briefs and memoranda in multimillion-dollar commercial litigation matters, including a joint employment/civil rights case, a FLSA class action, and a contractor termination dispute• Assisted colleague in preparing to defend company in a tortious interference/breach of contract trial – drafted pre-trial motions, crafted trial strategy, including what witnesses to call and when to examine them, discussed content of opening statement and closing argument• Assisted litigation team that prevailed in a multimillion-dollar contractor termination arbitration – performed research, assisted in drafting post-hearing brief and responses to arbitrator’s questions
