Brian Beverly is a founding partner of the firm. As a registered patent attorney he has extensive experience procuring and protecting patents and trademarks in a wide variety of fields. With a practice focused on the mechanical arts, Mr. Beverly has obtained patents for clients in heavy industries including shipping equipment and port crane machinery, rock crushing equipment, and underwater power technology, and many other fields including sporting equipment, medical apparatuses, and construction equipment. Mr. Beverly represents patent clients before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and trademark clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Working with a global network of foreign associates, he counsels clients on securing and safeguarding patents and trademarks in foreign markets, and represents foreign companies seeking patent and trademark protection in the U.S. He represents clients in patent, trademark and copyright litigation, and provides opinions and strategic counseling regarding patent and trademark availability, patent validity, and trade dress protection. He also advises clients on licensing of patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and develops strategies for start-up companies looking to secure their intellectual property rights.Mr. Beverly graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1976 (B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research), and from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1981 (J.D.). He is admitted to practice in the state of California, the Northern District of California, the Western District of Pennsylvania, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
