Safety Specialist
CurrentDevelop and implement designated Safety Management programs at Bruce Power. • Ensuring sustained and improved program performance through: ongoing assessment/surveillance, problem solving, development of objectives and targets, and development/maintenance of long term plans. • Providing technical support for Safety Management programs, such as those related to: conventional safety hazards, OHSA, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and safety engineering.• Consult with and advise Line Organizations engaged in planning, design, development and installation or implementation of systems or programs involving hazard controls. • Assist in the development of work plans by the line organization to minimize hazards. • Assessing, evaluating and recommending alternatives and actions in the resolution of Safety Management issues. • Review, compile, analyze and interpret data from accident and loss event reports and other sources regarding injuries, illnesses, property damage, environmental effects or public impacts.• Interacting with regulatory authorities on safety issues and prepare reports and other required documentation. • Direct or prepare management accountability and audit programs which assess safety performance. • Prepare specifications and recommendations for the purchase of materials, services and equipment. • Participating in the development of training programs. • Performing activities in support of implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management system.
