Brian’s mining industry experience is extensive. He has held various roles, including engineering, project engineering, and maintenance management positions. His main areas of expertise include maintenance and reliability, and projects in underground and open cut mines; and he has worked with iron ore, gold, base metals (silver, lead, and zinc), and coal. Brian started out in the mining industry 25 years ago on the west coast of Tasmania, an island state of Australia. He then moved to North Queensland andsigned on with a gold mining company, flying to the mine from Cairns. His next role was with a gold and base metals miner in the Northern Territory. After that, he opened his own consulting business and serviced mining and petrochemical clients, as well as local government entities. After providing consulting services to one of his clients, BHP, for a number of years, Brian was invited to join them as a full-time employee, working in an underground silver, lead, and zinc mine in North West Queensland. He soon took on a corporate role with BHP in the Global Maintenance Network, where he was tasked to develop modern maintenance strategies and implement them globally. This assignment took Brian to many countries, including South Africa, Mozambique, Chile, Brazil, U.S., Pakistan, and Suriname.
