I am a financial economist with expertise in corporate finance, governance, and incentives. I also have studied executives, insider trading, corporate innovation, and firm participation in the political process. As a business valuation consultant, I have worked in various capacities, providing thousands of hours of financial expertise related to both privately held and publicly traded business valuations. Additionally, I have also provided due diligence for cases related to litigation, bankruptcy, and fraud, which frequently required expert testimony and other related dispute resolution approaches. My projects include advising a financial institution victim of a $500 million Ponzi scheme, consulting for one of the ten largest United States-based financial institutions, performing due diligence for an international healthcare acquisition, and valuing a business interrupted by the costliest disaster in the history of the United States. I have also successfully completed the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ examination covering financial transactions and fraud schemes, law, investigation, and fraud prevention and deterrence. As a tenured finance professor holding a doctoral degree in finance with an economics collateral, I research and publish novel insights on firms. I also instruct graduate and undergraduate students to train them to understand firms, having taught hundreds of students how to perform business valuations and regularly assessed their expertise. I have also guided students through dissertations and theses at Mississippi State University. Previously, I worked at the University of Tennessee and the University of Alabama, where I obtained a master's degree in applied statistics. Finally, I have expertise related to the economics of business.
