I am a Unified Communications Engineer I work remote from my home in Orlando Fla and provide remote application support for everything that is Cisco. Supporting all voice platforms, Unified Communications Manager, Unity just to name a couple. I started my IT career back in 1999 configuring router's and switches for remote site deployments. We also dabbled in the "first type of voice-over-ip") where we actually did VOFR (voice-over-frame-relay), this was pre-ip phones and analog phones were still used for this type of dialing. Sadly the company where i got my start was a victim of the .com boom/bust and ended up closing its doors. At this time i made a jump to a different company.In late 2001, my management decided to take the Cisco IPT "plunge" and being "the Cisco guy" I was thrust into the world of Unified Communications while still maintaining the national data network (routing, switching, firewall, vpn, wireless) infrastructure. My first IPT experience was with Call Manager 3.0 and Unity 3.0, back when there were more software defects than working features. After 6 years of working every weekend, in a extremely stressful environment i made the move from working for a "Cisco Customer to a Cisco Partner", and took on a dedicated support role. This partner recently was acquired by another company, and outsourced all the engineer positions to India, and laid off myself as well as 4 entire teams of engineers.After leaving NTT I joined a company I had several years of experience working with and supporting, as a consultant. So far this has been one of the best moves of my career, moving from a Cisco Partner, back to a customer role, supporting and growing an enterprise UC system for a great organization has proven to be a great career move. When i'm not in my home office fixing a customer's system, i am "living the dream" deep sea fishing offshore the east coast of Florida. As a side "gig", i run a small mobile DJ business playing everything from High School proms to weddings and corporate parties.
