Lead Software Engineer - Cloud Development
CurrentIn my current role I manage a "Dev Ops" oriented development team that is focused on creating an enterprise level cloud-native platform in AWS. I ensure that we adhere to industry best practices including building for failure, keeping our infrastructure as code, and automating where possible. Recently, my efforts have focused on selecting and integrating the right tools for cloud native logging and monitoring into our platform. I've helped develop decentralized solutions for collecting logs and metrics from all types of cloud infrastructure, whether it's a traditional VM, a container, or even server-less infrastructure.Additionally, I've begun identifying and enforcing organization wide cloud best practices using open source tools like Cloud Custodian, and SaaS offerings like AWS Config Rules. These practices help guarantee that we're running in a secure and cost-conscious manner across the entire organization.During my time in the public cloud space I've worked on many different areas of the SDLC, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, logging, monitoring, storage solutions, security, and release management. I have experience in both architecting and implementing various cloud native solutions. Some of the technologies involved include: -AWS (Experience with nearly all resources, AWS Solutions Architect - Associate Certified)-Git - Source code management and property versioning strategies.-Jenkins - Build management and containerized build server strategies.-Spinnaker - Full pipeline automation and management of cloud deployment tool.-Netflix OSS (Spinnaker, Eureka, Zuul)-CapitolOne Cloud Custodian-T-Mobile PacBot-Bash/Python Scripting-Gradle-Spring Cloud-Packer-Container Technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)-Datadog-Sumo Logic Going forward I am looking to strengthen our foundation and add processes to measure efficiency, stability, and quality.
