Brian studied Mechanical Engineering before pivoting towards software and data, first with a startup internship working primarily with computer vision at PSYGIG in Tokyo, and after graduation as an analyst and consultant with Itron in San Diego. He has found success using his engineering background to bridge the gap between datasets and the real-world conditions and measurements that they describe--understanding the physical phenomena allows him to more quickly identify key data markers and deliver more accurate insight to customers. Brian is motivated largely by the prospect of building simple, practical solutions that fit together neatly to solve novel problems. On the other side of this, he loves taking things apart to find and understand the choices others made and the intentions they had in solving their own problems.Brian's more personal interests include cooking, casual climbing, and hunting for the best burrito in San Diego.
