Arrived in Western Australia to help complete start-up process for Watco Western Australia Railway in collaboration with our lead customer, CBH for Watco's first international railway start-up. My position as VP of Operations was to direct, administer, and coordinate the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by CEO and Board of Directions. I also guide and direct management in the development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the organizations products and services. According to Progressive Railroading Magazine, Shreveport Yard began to improve during the time that my team and I worked to make sure the yard efficiently and profitably. As noted in the magazine article:During the past few months, the terminal has increased the number of cars switched per day from 1,000 to 1,200; reduced dwell time from 30 hours to 24 hours; boosted right car/right train/right day accuracy from 73 percent to 83 percent; improved consist accuracy from 65 percent to 85 percent; and raised on-time train originations from 46 percent to 85 percent. Supervised 140 Train and Engine employees. Responsible for 210 miles of track with 1 terminal and 2 outlying dodgers. Worked closely with crew, senior management, and customer to ensure safe rail practices while servicing the customer in a satisfying way.
