I worked with the Art Director and editorial team of Portland Monthly magazine to plan, lay out and execute editorial design in front- and back-of-the-book sections as well as multiple feature story layouts every month. I hired and supervised photography and illustration contributors to create exciting and hip pages that reflect the unique character of Portland.

I worked closely with the editorial teams of 4 different publications (alt-weekly East Bay Express, monthly lifestyle magazines Oakland and Alameda Magazines, and dog-focused monthly Bay Woof) to create memorable and effective layouts and covers. I conceived and executed branding campaigns for special issues and marketing initiatives, hired and collaborated with photographers and illustrators, and created content for web and social media.

After being promoted to Art Director, I led a editorial design team responsible for the art direction and design of over 104 newspapers a year. My daily duties included editorial layout, collaborating with the Editor on design and messaging, hiring and collaborating with photographers and illustrators, UI/UX development, creating marketing materials, branding and client relations.
