There are a few primary things I intend to focus on:• Pittsburgh. The last few years for this region have been among the most positive and optimistic periods in my nearly 30 years here and have set up the next couple of decades for Pittsburgh to be a city that matters and resonates on the national and global stages. The intersections of innovative and creative minded individuals within the design, communications, technology, education and government sectors have reached a critical mass and I'd like to help foster and nurture this momentum so that it continues. • Craft. It's pretty clear that much of the expressions and messaging that comes from organizations has placed little emphasis on the discipline of craft. The long view and meaningful progress requires an attention to craft in all quarters — creative, research, business, innovation, design — and I hope to employ this more often. • Connection. In heading up Landesberg Design, I hope to help bridge the disparate and talented individuals and organizations that I have come to know in this region so that a diversity of thought can be applied effectively based on the particular opportunity and challenge that is offered. The ethos that needs to be shared is one of "all boats rise" and less around maximizing a singular and/or quarterly bottom line. I hope we get to work together.
