I am currently working on the development of magneto-optical laser-based chemical sensing methods as a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Gerard Wysocki in the department of Electrical Engineering.Current summary of research accomplishments:• Led a collaborative interdisciplinary research project to illustrate the strong potential of Faraday Rotation Spectroscopy (FRS) as a quantitative diagnostic in combustion research.• Realized the first direct in situ measurement of HO2 from a combustion process using mid-IR FRS.• Developed accurate modeling of FRS spectroscopic signals to quantify radical concentrations under different physical conditions.• Worked on the development of new magneto-optical sensing approaches that incorporate balanced optical detection that enable fundamental quantum shot noise limited sensitivities.• Played a lead role in the development of successful scientific proposals and execution of projects. Successful projects were supported by the US National Science Foundation, The Princeton Environmental Institute, and The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment.

I carried out my doctorate research in the laboratory of Prof. Benjamin McCall at the University of Illinois. At Illinois I led the development of the first quantum cascade laser (QCL)-based continuous-wave cavity ringdown spectrometer (cw-CRDS) coupled to a supersonic expansion source. This system was built for acquisition of rotationally-resolved spectra of large organic molecules of astrophysical relevance. Summary of research accomplishments:• Designed a high-temperature oven source capable of operating in vacuum at high temperatures, enabling generation of a supersonic expansion seeded with large organic molecules.• Tested the oven expansion source using pyrene (C16H10); the largest molecule to be observed with rotational resolution using infrared absorption spectroscopy.• Acquired and assigned the high-resolution spectrum of the ν8 vibrational band of methylene bromide (CH2Br2) using the QCL-based cw-CRDS instrument.• Developed a group theoretical description of the proton ring-walk tunneling motion in the benzeniumion (C6H7+).
