Investigating the role of different areas of the rat brain in goal-directed behaviour. This work improves our understanding of the functional architecture of the vertebrate brain and the physical basis for spatial navigation and anticipation of reward.

Investigating the development of rhythmicity in brain cells involved with the organisation of spatial behaviour in the rat. Combined electrophysiology and modelling demonstrated which electrical currents underpin this rhythmicity and set limits on the emergence of spatial awareness in the developing brain.
