Lead the IT operations at the Sheps Center in the following ways: directly responsible for three core Sheps IT functions (data management/analytic programming, web and database programming services, and desktop security/technical support); strategic planning of short- and long-term technical position and research systems development and support; fiscal management of IT operations; supervision of IT Assistant Directors; advising the Director on matters related to IT, data, and systems security. The Deputy Director chairs the IT leadership team and represents the information technology services of the Center to partners on and off campus. This position reports directly to the Director for the Sheps Center and is a member of the team of Administrative Directors. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires the wearing of many hats and the ability to work with cross functional teams to understand what is possible with technology, explain technology, and implement measures to support the needs of over 400 research investigators and staff associated with the Center.• Represent the Sheps Center IT enterprise across multiple university executive committees, state-wide, and nationally• Chair the Sheps IT Leadership Committee representing the 4 IT teams including Analytical Programmers, Web and Database Programming, Systems Administration and Machine Learning, and Desktop Security.• Work with Principal Investigators to design solutions to meet the needs of research projects including pre- and post-award grant proposal development, cost estimates, data security assessments, and more.• Lead research projects involving IT and healthcare research.• Maintain security and confidentiality protocols in the context of FISMA and HIPPA regulations• Supervise roughly 20 direct reports.
