I am a founding partner of one of Canada's top boutique commercial real estate law firms, Bogart Robertson & Chu LLP. I have transitioned to leave the partnership and be counsel to the firm to concentrate on my corporate directorships. In the capital markets I am a director of MCAN Financial Group (TSX:MKP), a leading Canadian real estate investment firm. MCAN lines of business include being a single-family residential mortgage lender, investing in the construction and commercial markets and providing Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation insured investment solutions. I currently chair the Conduct Review, Corporate Governance and Human Resource Committee and was a member of the ad hoc CEO search committee. Being regulated by OSFI, OSC, TSX, and CDIC keeps me alert.As part of the CAA Group of Companies I am a director of CCG, the largest auto assistance club in Canada, as well as on the board of its two subsidiary insurance companies, CAA Insurance and Echelon Insurance (Orion Travel Insurance having amalgamated into Echelon Insurance). I chair the Human Resource Committees of CCG, CAA Insurance and Echelon. All of these companies and the club are obsessed with member safety, doing good and the right thing and making our members' days better. I am a director of and former Vice-Chair of the Technical Safety and Standards Authority, where I participate in the regulatory role side of promoting and enforcing the public safety of Ontario residents in areas such as fuels, elevators, boiler pressure vessels and amusement devices. I also chair the Governance and Human Resource Committee providing board support in the areas of board governance, corporate performance, compensation, culture, risk and CEO objectives and performance. I am thoroughly enjoying playing a part in TSSA's transformation into an outcome-based regulator and redefining the relationship between the board and management. Formerly I was Vice-Chair of Toronto Hydro Corporation and Chair of the Human Resource & Environment Committee following having been the chair of its Audit Committee. Being regulated by the Ontario Energy Board and the Ontario Securities Commission in conjunction with balancing the interests of the City of Toronto, hydro ratepayers, our employees and the capital markets kept life constantly interesting and challenging.I have extensive non-profit/charitable board experience in the areas of post-secondary education, early childhood care, arts, culture, economic development and youth engagement.
