• Responded to called by local law enforcement agencies in a timely manner, assisting with the processing and removal of deceased individuals.• Transported sensitive materials with the deceased individuals to the Medical Examiner’s office and utilized high levels of attention to detail to file the appropriate paperwork required. • Worked in collaboration with the State Medical Examiner in the field, processing crime scenes as the pertained to the deceased individual and placing items into evidence for the Examiner. • Utilized empathy skills while speaking with families about their loved ones, answer their questions while at the scene.

• Served as 1 of 6 supervisors responsible for the safety and security of a 2,000-bed correctional facility, monitoring and coordinating all movement both in and out of the facility.• Worked to ensure the safety of the prisoners, staff and civilians at all times within the facility, responded to emergency calls in a timely, professional manner including all fight calls and medical emergencies. • Supervised the training for the Movement Critical Incident Response Team (MCIRT) including the certification of less than lethal munitions, training on strict safety and security procedures and the staff’s introduction into a disturbance.• Worked in collaboration with the team to ensure that the low-risk prisoners attended all court appointments and received counseling as required by the courts. • Maintained detailed documentation for the Salt Lake County Attorney’s Office including completing in-depth monthly reports as needed. • Partnered with the Contract and Procurement Department to complete a successful review of the program. - Promoted to sergeant as a result of the on-the-job performance, assigned to the SHED Unit, a new concept in correction at the time, taking low-risk prisoners serving time and integrating them back into the community.- Saved the citizen of Salt Lake County $1.8M annually by housing individuals at home versus in jail, allowing individuals to remain employed and to continue to be productive members within the community. - Recognized as the only member selected by the division to serve as a hostage negotiator, receiving specialized training in negotiations through the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.- Selected to develop and instruct a negotiation training course for the Sheriff’s Office.
