I am currently a Law Enforcement professional with the McCaysville Police Department. I hold the rank of Lieutenant with the positions of Uniform Patrol Commander/Supervisor, GCIC Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC), the interim Court Clerk for McCaysville Municipal Court, and I'm a member of our Tactical Entry Team. I also work a regular patrol shift responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic laws, and proactive patrol. Prior to working for the City of Mccaysville, I worked 4 years for the Pickens County Sheriff's Office (Georgia),first as a Jailer and then Deputy Sheriff on the Uniform Patrol Division. Before I entered law enforcement, I had a very diverse work history which helped to prepare me for many of the situations I encounter as a police officer. For example I worked as a pharmacy technician which familiarized me with all pharmaceuticals, especially the commonly abused prescription narcotics. It also familiarized me with the commonly purchased ingredients of many street drugs and how they're manufactured on the street. I also learned about prescription drug diversion, fraudulent prescriptions, so called "pill mills," and numerous medical insurance scams.I also have extensive experience in sales. My family owned a hardware/agricultural center. We sold general hardware, tools, building supplies, plumbing supplies, animal feed, seeds, plants, and about a thousand other necessities. I learned problem solving skills working for my parents as a teenager and young adult. After this, I worked through college for Sears, Lowes, and later after college, Home Depot. With Home Depot, I worked in several positions including lead generation and kitchen design. I learned de-escalation skills, crisis management, and dealing with the mentally ill, all while working for Home Depot. And while I'm partially joking, many of the experiences and skills I learned there have really carried over to Law Enforcement. My education is also equally diverse. I majored in Music Performance at Jacksonville State University. My music courses taught me how to listen, and how to analyze what I've heard. It also instilled in me great attention to detail in everything I do. It also took a shy 18 year old and made him comfortable performing solo in front of large crowds. This ability has made all the difference going into difficult situations as a police officer. Finally, I believe my greatest skill is being able to apply all of the things I've learned and experiences I've had from my diverse work and education background, to every situation I find myself in today.
