I am currently Professor of Anesthesiology and Orthopedic Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. I am the Medical Director of the Acute Pain Medicine Service. My clinical passion and research centers around the role of image guidance for regional anesthesiology. My public health research centers around the prescription opioid drug crisis as well as value-based care. I am actively involved with best practices for education and training of medical students, residents, and staff. I have served as the Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology and as the Associate Dean of CME for Dartmouth Medical School. We are committed to a comprehensive and multi-modal approach to alleviate suffering from pain associated with surgery and trauma. We believe that better pain control translates into less long term morbidity and reductions in health care expenditures. Our vision is that someday pain will be optional.
