The Illinois Autism Task Force was launched by the Department of Human Services in 2004 as a means of addressing issues presented by the growing number of children and adults being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It is a multi-agency task force that convenes to study and assess the needs of persons with ASD and provide substantive input and guidance to the Departments of Human Services, health and Family Services, and the Illinois State Board of Education for how to best provide services to children and families affected by ASD.
