· Responsible for managing staff of Environmental Professionals who provide environmental services at Detroit Edison Power Plants (includes Coal, Gas and Nuclear) and Distribution Operations (includes 13 Service Centers, and approximately 650 Substations, and respond to environmental incidents at any Detroit Edison customer property). Provide technical guidance on a daily basis on numerous environmental compliance issues.·Provide leadership, expert interpretation and ensure compliance with environmental rules and regulations and other corporate policies. · Required to make decisions on complex environmental matters and provide guidance and support to facility environmental staff. Ensure that critical information is communicated effectively to company senior leadership, and provide recommendations to resolve compliance challenges and influence decision-making.

· Selected to lead a variety of projects for variour DTE Energy business units employing lean six sigma principles.· Selected by plant leadership to lead implementation of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) at DTE Energy Power Plant. Plant certified to the ISO 14001 Standard during the fall of 2003. Provide expert EMS guidance and support for maintenance at all certified facilities within the company.· Provide Professional Engineer SPCC plan review and certification for a variety of DTE Energy facilities.

· Responsible for maintaining environmental regulatory compliance at facilities by monitoring, reporting, developing, and implementing procedures and strategies. Communicating with facility personnel at all levels of the organization and consulting with various subject matter experts on an as needed basis.· Reviews and interprets environmental regulations and proposed regulatory changes to assess impact and to ensure compliance. Represent the company on environmental issues with regulatory agencies and industry groups.· Respond to environmental emergencies such as spills or releases of polluting materials to the environment, manage clean up, ensure proper reporting to regulatory agencies, and make recommendations on corrective and preventative actions to mitigate future occurrences.· Facilitate environmental compliance and EMS audits, prepare audit response and assist with implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
