Helping build HySecurity Gate from a two employee startup, beginning in 1980 to one of the largest manufacturer's of gate operators in the U.S. has been an incredibly satisfying career ride. Managing this instant switch to retirement from a more than full time profession will likely be the next challenging adventure for me. Like most males, I had too much of my identity wrapped up in my career, now I look forward to discovering who I am outside of HySecurity Gate. This will be a fascinating and fun transition. Don't worry, I won't be bored.

I also knew that HySecurity was was a fun and exciting business in a great growth industry, so I purchased the company to express my need for endless opportunity, creativity and growth. A visionary named Fred Witters founded HySecurity Gate in 1980, by purchasing a small Seattle company from an inventor, who had brilliant ideas for automation of security gates. I had been working for that inventor for a year and was asked by to stay aboard after the acquisition. Fred expressed a vision to build upon the inventor's creative ideas and create a quality manufacturing business of national stature. We started from humble beginnings to build the brand and the products of what became a very well respected company in the industry.

Greater Seattle Area

Seattle Pacific Controls manufactured and installed automatic gate operator systems for homes and businesses. Seattlle Pacific Controls started in the late 1950's, and was an early pioneer in the gate operator industry. It's owner and founder Bob Harris was a brilliant inventor, entrepreneur and former Boeing engineer. It was at Boeing that Bob Harris came to respect to power and durability of hydraulic systems and it was Bob Harris that invented the first hydraulic sliding gate operator. In this early stage of my career, I designed and built the controls panels that provided the automation needed for these products.
