About Brian Deyoung
My architectural experience includes everything from high-end single family homes to high-rise mixed use towers. My experience at SOM spans from large mixed-use developments, high rise towers and airports around the world to small local community based projects in Chicago, IL. I have played many roles on projects over the years including project manager, project architect and designer. In my current role as the BIM Lead for the SOM office in Chicago, I oversee all BIM and Revit related activity within the Chicago office and coordinate SOM's BIM initiatives firm wide with the other SOM offices around the world. As part of my responsibilities in Chicago, I develop and enforce office BIM standards and procedures. I also manage multiple project teams making sure that they are using Revit for the maximum benefit. I also lead all in-house Revit training and provide continuing education opportunities in Revit for our staff.I have been in a BIM workflow and using Revit since 2002. Over the time I have led the effort to convert two offices from an AutoCAD based workflow to a Revit and BIM based workflow.
