Dietetic student intern at the Livewell clinic in Salt Lake City. Under the supervision of a Dietitian, I counseled patients in an outpatient setting working on weight loss, diabetes management, eating disorders, sports nutrition, wellness coaching, dialysis patients, irritable bowel syndrome patients, nutritional deficiencies, and lipid disorders (high cholesterol and/or triglycerides). I obtained experience counseling patients one on one, writing clinical notes, and coordinating treatment goals with doctors, physical therapists, and exercise physiologists. I was a part of the heart challenge program, where 8 families competed to see who could improve their heart health the most. I assisted in the nutritional education wing of that program.

I was a Dietetic Intern under the Dietitian that worked at the City Creek Harmons Grocery store. My duties included teaching cooking classes, teaching a class to preschool aged children, analyzing nutritional information on store products and deciding what was the healthier option, running sampling booths, managing portions of a store employee "grocery games" event, running store tours and counseling clients on diet choices. I also created a flier for employees on the benefits of trail mix while hiking.

I was a student intern working with the foodservice management director of the hospital. My duties included contacting and scheduling food vendors to come to the doctors lounge and promote their products, I also assisted in planning for an improved voucher system for the hospital to use in their cafeteria. I learned how a hospital foodservice department functions and how patient feedback changes the way they serve food. I learned the benefits and difficulties of a call-to-order system in a hospital.
