I am currently an HVAC design engineer at Dewberry Engineers. I earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. My thesis project was based on a novel biomaterial that is capable of switching its thermal properties with hydration. I developed a system that could make use of this or a similar material to improve the cost and energy efficiency of building cooling systems. In addition to my research project, I completed courses in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal systems. I have had engineering experience in internships at Wind Solutions and Caterpillar. During these work experiences I have learned many useful skills such writing manufacturing operating procedures, managing inventories, creating test procedures, design skills, and collaborating with other engineers to complete complex tasks.Throughout my time at NC State I earned a 4.0 GPA while taking many challenging courses such as thermodynamics, solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and controls. I have learned how to use many different software packages including SolidWorks, Matlab, Ansys, Simulink, and Creo. I was also a member of the honors program and completed a yearlong capstone research project on internal combustion, hybrid, and all electric engines.I have had several years of service experience working with the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity at NC State. I was the chapter president and also served on the board of directors for Habitat of Humanity of Wake County.
