It takes a keen analytical eye, outside-the-box thinking, and a passion for activating purpose to break down complex challenges into actionable, inspiring solutions. Since 2017 I've worked to apply those traits as an Arts administrator, partnering with K-12 teachers, school and network administrators in the implementation of mission-driven, strategic visions for Arts Education in public schools. Toward this end, I equip my team with a variety of curricular, pedagogical and coaching tools, lead Arts professional development sessions, develop, direct and support extracurricular programs in Music, Theater, Speech & Debate and Dance, evaluate and coach Arts leaders, manage Arts budgets, organize community Music & Arts events, hire and manage part time Arts staff, support and manage audio and lighting needs for schools, and serve as the primary contact for all external inquiries regarding Arts programming. As a lifelong Music Teacher, I enjoy connecting people with their innate musicality. I've mostly done this through classroom and private instruction on keyboards, ukuleles and guitars, and I encourage each student to sing until they love the sound of their own voice. Preparing and staging concerts with large groups of keyboards from 2015 - 2020, and arranging the music for them, was a highlight of my teaching career. I still work in after-school contexts with smaller groups of emerging keyboard, ukulele and guitar players, and compose musical arrangements each year that place chord progressions and improvisation at the foundation of the ensemble's learning experience. Where schools have not had the physical space or resources for traditional large ensemble programs, I've strived to innovate and create alternate pathways, curriculum and teaching methods to meet the always-present need for music-making opportunities for children.Expanding access to quality K-12 Music & Arts Education is my thing. I've worn a lot of hats in my roles as a Music Teacher and Arts Education Director, and I try to confront the chaotic potential of each day with a smile, a laugh, a listening ear and a helping hand. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Here's to shining creative light...-Brian
