Work with various large companies, Federal departments and startups to help them develop apps that can be delivered to market.Wrote the Probuild Android flagship app that includes extensive features from tracking employee locations while on the clock, capturing signatures, creating PDFs, sending emails, sharing photos and a full featured chat client. Usability and a product that works seamlessly in low connectivity areas for field workers are defining features. Strong focus on security and encryption in the cloud, at rest and on the device.Jointly wrote the backend infrastructure to run all Probuild products and our business. Wrote the BareTeam Android app. A team collaboration app for workers in the field to collaborate on projects and share progress and updates.Rewrote the Canadian Blood Services Android app with a Material design focus and an intuitive map based search interface for finding clinics. Set up a modular design with dependency injection and a focus on testability. Had previously written the original CBS app while at Flick Software.

Worked with various companies / projects including an integrated Android remote connection to a smart TV and a fully secured end-to-end encrypted chat application using CouchDB with symmetric and asymmetric encryption.Returned as consultant to develop and maintain the Prontoforms Android app (an enterprise app for remote data collection). Responsible for core architectural changes and growing their team as the company expanded. Managed a team of overseas developers.

Worked with clients on a range of projects to help develop their vision and ultimately deliver a final solution that met their needs. Was the in-house Android expert and focused heavily on delivering a high-quality native Android user experience. I was responsible for developing multiple projects from the ground up (architecture, implementation) and contributing to existing projects and re-factoring or adding new features, as required. I also provided guidance and mentored junior team members.Some of the Android projects I developed and worked on include a Mobile Wallet application, the Phoenix Beverages enterprise beer distributor application and more.

Responsible for the architecture and maintenance of the ProntoForms Android application. Responsibilities included: writing the initial application, road mapping issues, fixing bugs, implementing features, analytics, theming, localization, refactoring, automating builds and handling releases. Since the original client was built pre-Honeycomb, I had to keep evolving the product to leverage the latest best practices and changes in development practices, including: modularizing the UI into fragments; implementing the action bar and navigation drawer; and handling asynchronous loading of data using loaders, retained fragments and services . I created custom UI controls and shifted from file-based storage to local database solutions to be able to handle increasingly large datasets ranging in the hundreds of thousands of rows. I also implemented features that ranged from creating a file browser, sketch pad, location aware widgets, lookups and controls for every possible aspect that a mobile device could leverage to capture data.

Fixed bugs and implemented new features on Rove’s Mobile Admin, for the Blackberry platform. Setup automated build servers.
