On completion of my C&G 5 year Apprenticeship at VL Churchill's I wanted to go out and explore the big wide world of engineering. I spent many a happy year at Daventry Die Company who manufactured tungsten carbide extrusion tooling, progressing through all aspects of the business and finally ended up as Works Manager. After setting up and growing my own successful business, I joined General Carbide Europe (the European base of General Carbide USA) where I increased sales of their tungsten carbide wear parts well beyond expectations. Next I joined Hoybide Limited (now trading as Total Carbide Limited) and over 20 years at this company I progressed to UK Sales Manager. In January 2020 I joined my current employer WES Engineering Solutions as an account/business development manager. As you will know 2020/21 were a roller coaster ride for everyone and gladly things have settled down and we are seeing a return to pre-pandemic times.WES Engineering Solutions, based in Redruth, Cornwall take pride in supplying engineered components to customers in the Aerospace, Automotive Industries, Medical, Oil and Gas, Nuclear, and Sub-Sea. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce who pride themselves in offering solutions to engineering problems.We provide fast and accurate machining of bespoke components and to assist in our drive for expansion, in July 2022 we took receipt of a brand-new Matsuura H Plus 300 Horizontal Machining Centre. We also have numerous other machines onsite which include, Mori Seiki Mill-Turns, Haas 5 Axis Machining Centers, Agie Charmilles EDM Spark and Wire Eroding machines along with Internal, External, and Surface Grinding machines. Our Hard Metal division specialise in the manufacture of wear resistance parts in a variety of materials namely, Pure Tungsten utilised for radiation shielding, Tungsten Carbide wear applications with Sub-Sea being one with high usage, other Super Alloys, Hardened Tool Steels all having demands across countless industries.
