Founded Ferrier Pumps ltd at Leith, in 1981, at the age of 24.The previous seven years were spent building up an offshoot of a Leith based ship repair company which specialised in pumps of all descriptions, for all applications. Upon leaving this organisation to set up Ferrier Pumps, the old company soon collapsed. What a shame .Built up Ferrier Pumps to include three warehouse complexes with full repair and 24/7 service workshops in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.The early years were extensively involved with pioneering design aspects of high pressure water jetting for sub sea and marine applications which included the use of ROV's in marine growth removal and corrosion inspection as well as designing and supplying the equipment used in the most successful salvage ever in maritime history with the salvage of gold bullion from the Great Britain in the freezing waters off Murmansk in connection with Wharton Williams.( 2W). The company was involved in many novel and unusual activities such as this before specialising in designing and building sewage pumping stations, delivering flood prevention projects and municipal and private water supplies, while also majoring in the worlds of chemical processing food processing and general building services.Main customer include Scottish Water, Local Authorities, The NHS, The MOD, Universities, Hotel & Supermarket chains and major civil and offshore contractors.
