“Why am I so complicated?”That was one of the first questions I got from a student as a rookie Career Counselor at Cal State Northridge. Struggling to appear brilliant, the best I could come up with was “Probably because this is important to you and you care”.And it helped. (Thank my luck stars)One of my roles is my work is that of simplifier. Not fixer, but simplifier. My task is to help our students make their lives just a little bit easier. My inherent belief that all of us are on life journey seeking purpose and meaning, and this is often reflected in what we study in school and what we look for in a career. My style of career counseling is values-driven: it starts with you and what’s important to you. Our only agenda is to keep things simple and focused, and my only investment is to support you in your quest for happiness. Because people are complicated and life today is complex. But when we stick to your values—those things that drive and sustain us—life becomes just a little simpler.
