Project ManagerSverdrup Technology, Lewis Research Group Jan 1988 - Dec 1993Project Manager, Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) Project Led a project team in the development of an acceleration measurement system for Space Station similar to instruments flown on the space shuttle. The effort involved the development of electronic and mechanical hardware as well as real time system software to acquire data and transmit the data to the ground. Duties included overall project management, developing detailed work breakdown structure, projects budget (2 Million/year), schedule, and staffing. In addition the section was responsible for all software development for the current SAMS unit flying on the space shuttle and ground support equipment. Duties included developing functional tests for post qualification system testing and post fabrication testing of printed circuits and developing software to aid in these tests. Developed data reduction system and software to reduce mass quantities of data recorded by the instrument. Software made use of forth order temperature model of accelerometers to compensate data for changes in temperature. Original concept was proven on a PC based system and later ported to a UNIX based workstation environment. Other duties included supporting all environmental and EMI testing of unit and providing support during shuttle missions at the Payload Operations Control Center (POCC).
