As a Lead Financial Analyst on the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, I support three distinct business units within the specialty insurance division. My major areas of focus include working with key stakeholders across the organization to drive the budget and forecast processes, analyzing variances between actual results and the budget, and modeling the financial impact of both current and prospective business opportunities.

Responsible for profit and growth targets for five states within The Hartford's Personal Lines division. In order to be successful, I had to analyze and react to profit and loss cost trends, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and economic, market and customer trends. Ultimately, I worked to create and maintain a product that meets the current and future needs of our customers, at a price that is both competitive and profitable. I also served as the financial planning liaison between product management and the corporate finance team, creating greater collaboration between the two groups and driving a more efficient and accurate process.

Gained experience in Product Management, Financial Analysis and Internal Audit across three one-year rotations within the Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP) at The Hartford.My third and final rotation had me working as a Financial and Product Analyst within The Hartford's Personal Lines division. My team managed The Hartford's personal Home and Auto products within four states. I worked to drive profitable growth through the analysis of profit and loss trends as well as market and non-market factors.My second rotation was on the Commercial Markets Strategy and Financial Analysis team. I prepared monthly financial exhibits that were distributed to the Commercial Markets senior leadership team as well as to the field sales offices. In addition to monthly reporting, I worked with the product line CFOs as well as our Sales & Distribution team to create and analyze ad-hoc exhibits to enable them to implement their sales and growth strategies. My first rotation was in Internal Audit, Management Advisory Services. Within Management Advisory Services, I assisted in risk-based strategic consulting reviews in order to ensure proper governance and controls as while streamlining processes and workflows. During my rotation in Internal Audit, I was staff-loaned for six months to The Hartford's external auditor, Deloitte. As a part of Deloitte's audit team, I aided in their interim and year-end financial audit of The Hartford, specifically assisting in such audits as Corporate and Wealth Management Operating Expenses, Journal Entry Testing, Cash Flow Testing and End to End Process Walk Through Evaluations.

As an intern in the Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP), I was a financial analyst in the Enterprise Planning department. I contributed to the construction and analysis of the quarterly business reports for the executive leadership team, utilizing the firm's Cognos TM1 database system. As a capstone project, I partnered with four other interns to create, evaluate, and present a series of initiatives to help sustainably grow the Small Commercial insurance line of business.
