WSP is leading the CAHSR program management team and overseeing implementation of its planned 800-mile high-speed train system servicing Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Orange County, and San Diego. The high-speed system will use state-of-the-art electrified trains, capable of speeds of up to 220 mph. The proposed two-track rail line will be 50 feet wide, but will have five times the capacity of a highway of the same size, allowing up to 12 trains per hour in each direction. The line will include 24 multimodal transportation centers. -

Project Description: Mass-transit project to extend the light-rail Expo corridor as part of the Los Angeles County Metro Rail System. The corridor extension will connect Culver City to Santa Monica, mostly along the Exposition Boulevard right-of-way. It extends the corridor built by the Expo Phase 1 project. The length of the project is 6.6 miles, and includes 7 bridges and 7 stations. Contract value: $546 million. -
