Brian is a highly-motivated, versatile teacher and former United States Peace Corps educational development volunteer. He is a veteran educator with a 18+ year professional teaching career spanning public and private school education, international cross-curriculum education, special education and inclusive classrooms, as well as one-on-one settings. As a progressive educator, Brian firmly believes in the mission to educate the whole child. It is his outgoing personality, passion for teaching, his experience and dedication to his students, and his familiarity with health and physical education, counseling and instructing special needs students, as well as his experience working closely with under-privileged students have allowed him to utilize a range of skills and abilities to be a successful teacher in any environment. His 15 years of teaching and curriculum development experience have allowed him to work with a variety of pupils, from elementary-aged children to adults, from native English-speakers to transitional secondary English-speakers, and both general education and learning-disabled students. Through teaching at all levels and serving in a variety of locations – from North Carolina, to Virginia, to Thailand – Brian has gained valuable experiences in understanding the needs and capabilities of his students, curriculum planning and implementation, and student assessment. One of his greatest strengths as a teacher is meeting each student’s unique needs by developing a personal understanding of that child. He's been able to achieve this by observing and assessing his students as individuals, and tailoring lessons and interactions to accommodate to multiple intelligences. He strives to ensure that all his students grasp learning concepts, and enhance their personal and academic skills by providing learning centers, hands-on manipulative, and interactive activities. He utilizes these strategies to introduce new concepts, establish a connection between the classroom and everyday life, and to foster an engaging learning culture.
