Sold his legal practice in Adelaide in 1984 to study voice and drama in Vienna. After graduating from the Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Laws, Brian worked for 7 years as a lawyer in his own legal practise "Adams & Gilbertson." He then studied voice and drama at the Hochschule fuer Musik Darstellendar Kunst in Vienna and privately with Maestro Franz Schuch - Tovini. He sang as a principal operatic tenor for 20 years at an international level with appearances in over 50 operas ranging from Wagner's Ring Cycle to works by Mozart, Britten, Stravinsky, Gilbert & Sullivan and Musicals. He innovated, directed and performed in new corporate shows combining rock and opera in the 1990's, produced and directed major outdoor events introducing sports/arts performances. He appeared at international sporting events introducing the first Australian performances of visiting nation anthems on Australia Day which is now part of all major Australia Day events. Brian has produced 6 commercial recordings. He later managed and directed what is recognised as the biggest Christmas Parade of its kind in the world, the Credit Union Christmas pageant. He has given several voice masterclasses at international venues and continued links with those students via his website tips, more recently on facebook, reaching singers and teachers from over 180 countries. His goal is to continue to mentor young artists both singers and actors. Brian has the capacity to produce, perform and direct festival events and to represent major arts organisations at Board level.
