I am a senior Fire/EMS leader and executive with more than two decades of experience in direct leadership roles in governmental and public safety organizations focused on mitigating, preparing for, and responding to fire, emergency, and disaster management-centered events. I create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to enter the Fire/EMS profession, a space in which they are welcomed and can succeed, and a pathway for them to realize their goals.I collaborate with public safety agencies across the United States on scheduling and staffing matters. My subject matter expertise in the UKG TeleStaff system has improved consistency and compliance, and saved many thousands of hours and dollars by automating even the most complicated staffing scenarios for Fire Departments, EMS agencies, Law Enforcement, and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). Over the years, I have developed collaborative partnerships with public and private sector entities that mitigate risks and create more resilient and safer communities through shared ownership, innovation, technology, and human centered programs.I am an adept listener for the people that I lead and the community that I serve. I take pride in my ability to improve an organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and I’ve led efforts by partnering with technical colleges, state universities, and labor unions to create paid internships and an entry pipeline that provided opportunity to historically underrepresented demographics in the emergency services field. In addition, I’ve reduced conscious and unconscious biases in the hiring process by working with statewide Human Resource Committees, implementing training for internal evaluators, and even involving the participation of leaders from various partner organizations. While not entirely separate from my work, I’m passionate about giving back to the community and building a future we can all be proud of. I’m a member of the National Gay Pilots Association and I'm also involved in a recreational softball league that focuses on creating a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ people to enjoy sports without being judged or defined by their gender roles, identity, or relationships.I’m always interested in speaking with professionals in or parallel to the industry, feel free to reach out to me here or directly at briangoff71@gmail.comCore Competencies: Executive Leadership, DEI Initiatives, Change Management, Transformational Leadership
