The Eye Health Institute (EHI) was founded in 2000, is an Internal Revenue Service 501(c) (3) non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado. We provide comprehensive, quality eye care to the financially disadvantaged and underserved children and families on the island of Jamaica. Examinations are free and ophthalmic goods are provided at no cost. The need for these services is great, especially in the rural communities outside of the larger economic centers. It is estimated that half of the population will not receive vision care in their lifetime. Unfortunately, cataracts and other treatable conditions cause many cases of blindness.
