I then expanded my training to take on new responsibilities. With the new title of a Help Desk Consultant, I took on the position of Consult, which relies on me to communicate with university affiliates through email and live chat. At the end of the night, a consultant is responsible for creating a nightly summary of the office's statistics, such as calls, emails, voicemails, and more. The consultant is also considered the main source of backup for students at the end of the night, as the full time staff will be gone by then. Consultants also work as mentors, where they help train new employees on basic everyday work duties, to help acclimate them to their new job.I also joined the Help Desk's Software Services Group (SSG). As a member of SSG I am tasked with knowing advanced technical information regarding the computers that are brought to the Help Desk. We deal mostly with the operating system of computers, when they begin to function at a lower quality then before.
