Appointed to build and lead this new billion dollar agency created in October 2011, I have refashioned and integrated multi-discipline problem solving involving design, management, energy acquisition, workforce development, and the elevation of the quality of life for District Residents.The mission of DGS is to elevate the quality of life for the District of Columbia by providing state of the art design and construction, facility maintenance, expert real estate management, portfolio optimization, facility security, and utilities purchasing & commodities management.The DGS portfolio includes approximately 30 million square feet comprised of schools, parks, recreation facilities, municipal office buildings, and public safety facilities. DGS has 700 employees in six divisions including, Construction, Facilities, Portfolio, Contracting & Procurement, Protective Services, and the Sustainability & Energy Division ( Check out http://www.buildsmartdc.com ).
