Design and manufacture process plant serving the electrical industry for both the UK and export markets. Their range includes vacuum / pressure impregnation plant, casting and encapsulation plant.The plant generally consist of a process vessel and a storage vessel both designed and manufactured to BS5500. The vessels are connected to each other by fluid (resin) transfer pipework and to vacuum pumping and compressed air systems. Flow of resin between the vessels s achieved by pressure / head differential. Manually operated or actuated valves are included in the pipework together with flexible bellows and supports as required.Design is from basic written specification and schematic (flow) diagrams and consists of both mechanical and electrical design. Mechanical design includes all stress calculations, mechanisms, drives and pipework layouts. Vessel design calculations to BS5500. Electrical design includes temperature control, process variable switching monitoring and data-logging, PLC and relay controls and general switchgear systems. Panel layout and wiring diagrams are also included.Reporting to the Engineering Manager I am responsible for:* Design and detail drawing.* Buying (the main objective being to enhance company profits whilst ensuring quality and availability)* Liaison with clients, inspection authorities and Millitorr sales personnel discussing contracts up to£500,000.* Chairing a weekly progress meeting! nvolving engineering and production personnel, to ensure contract ~re completed to schedule.In the past I have been responsible for two design engineers and their work together with a technical clerk. I have also documented and instigated new and existing systems for goods receiving, despatch, stock control and internal requisitioning.
