I am a research assistant in Dr. Wu's HIV laboratory. My current research is in viral gene therapy treatment for HIV and Cancer. I am the labs manager and blood donation coordinator. Responsibilities • Daily logging and weekly reports of data analysis to project managers and PI • Mastery of aseptic techniques with culturing bacteria and mammalian cells • Proficiency in statistical data analysis • Produced lenti-viral particles on a large scale for animal testing, gene therapy, and cell transformation and perform quality control on viral particles• Constructed novel DNA molecules via restriction enzyme DNA cloning. • Mastery of florescent microscopy and flow cytometry • Operate a gel electrophoresis and perform a Western Blot for protein analysis and a Luciferase Assay for functional analysis• Experience loading and running a PCR • Teach new students laboratory techniques• Experience with troubleshooting and calibrating laboratory computational computers and devises and automated computer systems • Collaborate with graduate students, GMU faculty, on research projects and grant reviewing • Record and maintain a daily log of observations, results, lab orders, shipments and budget• Coordinate blood donations for various projects
