I currently work at the intersection of leadership training, learning, programming and exhibition planning in the heritage/cultural sector. My primary experience includes senior management positions supporting educators working in museums: planning programs, developing exhibitions, training docents, working on grants, producing teaching guides and educational videos, advocating for the general public; broadening how culture is interpreted and who is represented, contributing to long range strategic planning. Extensive background teaching East-Asian art history--in gallery, in courses, both in person and online. From a start in performing arts management through many positions in museum education over several decades, my interests have expanded to include the whole organization as a place of learning and engagement, both internally and externally in the wider ecosystem.Interests and Specialties: Interpretation non-western arts and cultures (esp East Asia) for non-specialist audiences;Interpretation and design of informal learning spaces (galleries, exhibits, interactive spaces);Writing and Production of educational videos and teaching resources;Organizational structure, leadership, innovation, change, disruption and adaptation;Sharing ideas and practices between museums, libraries and other cultural organizations;Blended or hybrid learning; distance learning;Learning theories, pedagogies and user-experience planning to support all the above.Recent activities:Teach regular courses on learning theories, teaching with objects, design of educational spacesOrganize numerous online courses and in-person site visits (from NYC to Philadelphia and Washington DC); Convened a national meeting of museum education leaders in Denver CO May 27-29, 2015; produced accompanying report "The Future of Museum Education".Author of chapter "Visitor-Centered Exhibitions and Edu-curation in Art Museums" (Villeneuve/Rowson-Love, 2017); Conference talk on "Changing Perspectives: New Pedagogies for an Ancient Chinese Landscape Painting" at NAEA, New York, 2017.Invited to review Education Leadership programs at George Washington U, DC, May 2018.Redesigned two programs (2019-20) at Bank Street with updated content, hybrid format, greater attention to DEAI. Program approved by NY State and launched Sept 2021.Contributed to chapter in "Museum Education for Today's Audiences" (Porter/Cunningham, 2022)Spoke on careers and grad school at NYCMER conference, Jan 2022; participated in May 23 conference.Designed/taught new course "Organizational Dynamics" spring 2023
