As a part of the Structural Engineering practice at Short Elliot Hendrickson Inc., I am a Bridge Inspection Team Leader performing safety and maintenance inspections on bridges, culverts, and other transportation infrastructure. I coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and bridge owners to perform routine and special-case inspections to keep the public safe while traveling. Through my years at SEH, I have been able to grow professionally from an entry level technician to a technical expert in more than just bridge inspections. I have learned to draft CAD sketches in MicroStation, create maps and online GIS applications to disseminate inspection results, and most recently have become certified as a commercial drone pilot. I always look for ways to improve our bridge inspection product at SEH.

I work with the U.S. Forest Service as an intern with the Forest Inventory and Analysis program FIA. This, specifically, is part of the Pacific Northwest Research Station. The research we conduct and field data we gather assists professionals in making decisions in the forest management, environmental policy, climate change, and timber industries. We visit (or revisit) remote forest-land "plots" and perform measurements concerning tree growth, fire fuels, vegetation, invasive species and other variables in order to get a sense of concepts such as carbon storage, timberland productive capacity, land-use changes, disturbances and treatments, and overall forest health.

I sample and do basic analyses on waters from the ponds and reservoirs of Broomfield collected primarily from watercraft. Working at the Environmental Lab in the Water Treatment Facility, I process the various samples collecting including filtering, preserving and distributing. Basic water characteristics I deal with are temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and turbidity. Sampling is done with a YSI multi-parameter sonde and I also use the following devices: Secchi disk, Kemmerer sampler, Van Dorn sampler, and a plankton net.
