I am a PhD. (Biochemistry/Molecular Biology) researcher with 10+ years postdoctoral experience in academic cancer research, including 5+ years in stem cell research. I am currently a faculty member of Harvard Medical School at the Boston Children's Hospital, USA. I have published over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts (11 as first author) in journals including Nature, Cancer Research, Oncogene, Cell Metabolism, Molecular Endocrinology, Genes and Development, EMBO, amongst others. These total over 2,000 citations. I hope my work will yield something clinically-relevant, and is not just "science for the sake of science". For example, refer to either following link (or the Cell Stem Cell pdf below) to an article highlighting our recent collaboration with Pharma (of which I was actively involved) to develop a therapeutic for Phase I clinical trials:http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.stem.2012.11.020 http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1934590912006546Thanks for taking the time to browse my profile. I appreciate we are all pretty busy. Cheers,Brian.

We focus on colorectal cancer and melanoma stem cells, and in particular ask if the ABCB5 cell-surface marker is functionally relevant to disease dissemination. -
Postdoctoral FellowMcgill University 2003 - Mar 2009Goodman Cancer Centre; Molecular Oncology Group; Royal Victoria HospHave 5 years experience working post-PhD with various transcription factors, but my main interests are nuclear receptors, coactivators and corepressors of transcription. I am interested in how post-translational modifications regulate their function, and how the gene networks they control are "hijacked" towards malignancy. -
Phd StudentUniversity Of Dundee 1999 - 2003Ninewells Hosp, Molecular And Cellular PathologyWorked on transcriptional regulation in cancer via the co-regulators p68(DDX5) and p72(DDX17), which are also RNA helicase splicing factors.
